The morning sun pressed against my eyelids, warm and insistent, dragging me from the haze of sleep. My body ached in ways that had become familiar—the deep, throbbing soreness between my legs, the tender weight of my modified breasts, the permanent feeling of being stretched and used. I shifted in the crib, the familiar crinkle of the diaper beneath me, and waited.
